Groundbreaking Ceremony!
September 17, 2018. The day we officially broke ground at our property!!!
Seriously, are there enough exclamation points for this?!
We purchased our lot last Halloween and over the last number of months have worked to get all our ducks in a row for this important milestone.
And of course, we spray painted some shovels for the occasion! I mean, you would too, right?
To start, Kelsey rented a ditch witch to dig a trench to install the erosion fence. The erosion fence is a short plastic fence that basically directs water off the lot while we’re in the construction process. It has to stay in place the entire time, so it’s an important step!
My parents are in town for the month, so my Dad helped out at the lot today to finish up the trenching, the fence, and some other work to get ready for the next step of installing the culvert for our driveway!
So…guess what is arriving on Monday? A backhoe! We’ll build the culvert first, then start to dig our driveway.
Of course, this is just the start, but sometimes that is the hardest part.
