Happy 2025 from the Life at 9,290 Family!

Once again, it has been a full year since we posted an update to our blog! Time sure does fly when you’re having fun!

This year, we got restarted on the big garage project. We poured the floor this September and have been building up since then. We decided to move forward with the second level to eventually be an additional guest/hangout space. For now, it will be unconditioned storage space until we are able to do all of the finish work.

In the meantime, in keeping with our tradition of doing a family recap video, here’s our 2024 family video diary! We hope you enjoy it! Let us know in the comments what is your favorite snippet.

This year, we made time for some fantastic trips: spring break in Florida with Cory’s parents, two weeks in Michigan over the summer, and adventures closer to home in Fruita, Steamboat Springs, and right here in Summit County.

We hope you have a great 2025!

Closing in on a Certificate of Occupancy

We also have had to be flexible with COVID-related school and daycare closures for the boys. Trying to balance my full time work, Kelsey leading the home-building charge and helping the boys with remote learning doesn’t always lead to the most productive days on the job site. We’re doing the best we can, yet still feel frustrated some days with the slowing down of our process toward receiving our certificate of occupancy. Of course, we remain grateful for our health, but still...sigh.

Painting, Trim, Exterior Soffit, Polishing the Concrete Floor

After a flurry of activity, Mom and Dad left for Michigan on October 18, staying about 10 days longer than they originally planned. They arrived on Labor Day weekend and hustled at the house every day. We’re so appreciative of their time and effort! It was a huge boost to our morale to wrap up some big projects while they were here!

Prepping for Drywall

Drywall feels like such a huge step. It’s kind of amazing that when you think about building a home, you imagine what appliances you’ll pick, the faucets for each bathroom, or the paint colors for all the spaces. In reality, these things are the final choices you make. There is so much that goes on before all that fun stuff.
